Sharp-edged track ballast is the basis for a stable substructure on the track bed. The constant dynamic loading of the track ballast, caused by a high density in rail traffic, significantly reduces the original serviceability of the track ballast. It loses its supporting and stabilising function. The regular replacement of "worn" ballast is our ultimate starting point - REMEX makes old track ballast usable again.
Our company offers recycling services for track construction companies and railway companies at various locations in Germany. Among other things, we are a contractual partner of Deutsche Bahn. Our services include the acceptance, intermediate storage, recycling and recovery of old ballast, track-bed cleaning material and excavated soil. For the smooth running of refurbishment and new-build projects in the rail transport sector, we offer logistics concepts that are tailored to the construction project and, if required, supplement these with our own transport capacities.
Our customers can deliver track ballast themselves by rail – on request we can also organise the transport with our own trucks or Deutsche Bahn trains. Fine components such as splinters and leaves are thoroughly separated from the stones. The track ballast is processed according to the requirements of the end product and the corresponding technical material specifications. In the impact mill, the stones become sharp-edged again, for better interlocking in the track bed. The grain spectrum of the processed ballast meets the relevant standards and lies between 31.5 and 63 mm. The reconditioned track ballast is transported quickly and reliably to its destination by REMEX or certified partner companies.

In addition to the recycling of rail ballast, we offer our customers the handling of wooden and concrete railway sleepers. Concrete sleepers, in particular, are ideal source materials for the production of high-quality recycled aggregates.
Acceptance of old railway ballast and sleepers made of concrete and wood
Material transport and transshipment by lorry and rail
Processing of old track ballast for reuse in the track bed
Utilisation of recycled gravel, e.g. in earthworks, road construction and landfill construction
Production of recycled aggregates from concrete sleepers
